Bilingual Bridges

Mission:

Bilingual Bridges connects students of all ages and language backgrounds with certified bilingual educators who reflect their students' cultures, accelerate learning, and build academic and linguistic proficiency in two languages — empowering every student to succeed in school, work, and life.

Program Description:

Bilingual Bridges implements a High-Impact Tutoring (HIT) program designed to accelerate academic growth and close learning gaps through personalized, standards-based instruction, delivered virtually in 15+ languages.

Our approach is grounded in extensive research on high-impact tutoring as an evidence-based model for accelerating K–12 learning through consistent, personalized instruction, including frequent and consistent sessions, data-driven instruction, native language support, culturally responsive teaching, and strong tutor-student relationships — all tailored to meet the linguistic, cultural, and academic needs of each student and school.

Each tutoring session occurs three to five times per week in 30, 45, or 60-minute increments, available before, during, and after school, in 1:1 or small group settings with a maximum ratio of 4:1. For multilingual learners, instruction is delivered in the student's native language and English, aiming to build academic and linguistic proficiency in two languages. Student progress is monitored through formative and summative assessments, including benchmark assessments, ongoing progress monitoring, and school-provided data; all of which is used to inform instruction and guide differentiation. Instructional content is aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS), state academic frameworks, WIDA English Language Development Standards, Science of Reading, and/or Eureka Math Squared.

Certified bilingual educators at Bilingual Bridges are recruited for their academic credentials and linguistic and cultural alignment with the students they serve. All tutors hold teaching certifications, bachelor's degrees, and have a minimum of three years of professional classroom teaching experience. Ongoing professional development topics include culturally responsive instruction, differentiated learning strategies, data-informed teaching practices, strategies for English learners, the Science of Reading, and bilingual education. Our approach includes a thorough onboarding process, professional development, instructional coaching, and monthly classroom observations to maintain the effectiveness and integrity of our program.
Fully virtual and available across all K–12 grade levels, Bilingual Bridges supports schools, districts, and families in closing learning gaps in English Language Arts, Reading, and Mathematics. Program duration varies by school and district, with most programs running for one semester or a full academic year. Schools may customize delivery based on student need and scheduling, with the flexibility to modify or extend the program structure as needed.

Students work with the same tutor throughout the program, ensuring consistency in approach, motivation, and accountability.
