Our program uses Huntington Learning Center academic programs, tailored for each student, to help students in grades 3-8 increase either their reading fluency and comprehension or their basic math skills. Teachers are assigned up to 4 students, who they then work daily as part of the master schedule at our partner schools. We have trained professionals come in from outside the school to achieve the teacher/student ratio required. Our program director meets with the heads of the ELA and math departments before the programs start to determine starting instructional grade level for each student's program, based on their most recent testing data the school has available. During sessions, students use our Huntington platform known as "Ecenter" to access each student's program. Students read short, information-based passages from PDF's that are listed with each assigned lesson and answer multiple choice questions on answer sheets in an assigned binder. Teachers check student work and review missed questions, repeating this process until the student demonstrates they are ready to move to the next level. We make sure all of our teachers communicate daily any changes that need to be made to their students' programs. Starting at a level where students can be successful and build confidence, then adjusting the curriculum consistently based on student performance is how our students achieve excellent results.
