Carnegie Learning

Carnegie Learning's High-Impact Tutoring is a customizable, virtual acceleration program designed to provide students with live, online support in mathematics and literacy. Rooted in research, our program incorporates the National Student Support Accelerator (NSSA) standards, as well as the design principles for effective tutoring published by EdResearch for Recovery (Annenberg Institute at Brown University and the University of Virginia). Ultimately, this program is engineered to extend the impact of classroom teachers and ensure all students are prepared for grade-level learning.

The program aims to accelerate academic growth by providing high-dosage, personalized instruction that seamlessly aligns with a school district's existing curriculum and Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.

Key Program Features:

Certified, Highly Qualified Educators: 100% of the tutors are state-certified teachers who are experts in their content areas. This ensures that instruction is pedagogically sound and delivered by professionals trained in student engagement and intervention strategies.

Curriculum & MTSS Alignment: Carnegie Learning tutors use high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) and are trained on the district-specific math and literacy resources. Sessions are explicitly designed to support and reinforce grade-level core instruction, making it a natural fit for Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within an MTSS model.

Flexible and Targeted Grouping: The program offers flexible tutor-to-student ratios to meet specific district needs:

High-dosage tutoring for up to 4 students.

Students are grouped strategically based on identified areas of need and their grade level.

Data-Driven Instruction in 10-Week Cycles: The program operates in predictable 10-week cycles. Tutors administer pre- and post-assessments to measure growth, alongside ongoing formative assessments (like weekly exit tickets). This robust learning data ensures instruction remains tailored to each student's evolving needs.

Relationship Building: A consistent tutor stays with each group throughout the program, fostering positive tutor-student relationships that are critical for building confidence and engagement.

Flexible Scheduling: Sessions range from 30 to 60 minutes and can be scheduled before, during (e.g., embedded in existing WIN/intervention periods), or after school, as well as over the summer.

Turnkey Implementation: Carnegie Learning manages the operational heavy lifting, including recruiting and training tutors, scheduling sessions, providing a secure video conferencing platform, administering assessments, and facilitating regular progress-monitoring meetings with district partners.
