East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring (EPATT)

Mission:

East Palo Alto Tennis and Tutoring (EPATT) equips youth to thrive in college and career pathways through academic one-on-one tutoring, parent empowerment, enrichment activities, mentorship, coaching, and tennis instruction.

Program Description:

East Palo Alto Tennis & Tutoring (EPATT) has partnered with the East Palo Alto community since 1988 to help students overcome systemic academic inequities and achieve long-term success. EPATT provides high-dosage, one-on-one tutoring aligned with classroom instruction, complemented by enrichment, family engagement, and tennis. Students often enter multiple grade levels behind, yet with consistent support, many make accelerated gains and reach grade level. EPATT serves hundreds of students annually through deep school and community partnerships.

EPATT pairs academic tutoring with tennis instruction so students can reset, recharge, and return to learning focused and ready. Time on the court gives students the chance to blow off steam, run, play, and connect with peers in a joyful, structured environment. Tennis also introduces a healthy, lifelong sport that builds confidence, resilience, and habits that support success well beyond the classroom.
