Enhanced Core Reading Instruction

Mission: Mission:

Our mission is to improve reading achievement for all students and reduce reading gaps, in particular for disadvantaged students who have historically have high percentage of students not meeting grade level reading proficiency (e.g. students living in poverty, students of color, English Learners, and students with disabilities). Our goal is to have all students reading with proficiency by the end of third grade by providing supports in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.

Enhanced Core Reading Instruction is a multi-tiered program (Tier 1 and Tier 2) featuring a series of teaching routines designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of reading instruction in kindergarten, first and second grade.

150 ready-to-use, 30-minutes lessonsTier 1 is 60 minutes per day of whole group and small group reading instruction. Tier 2 is daily, 30 minute small groups 5 days per week across the K-2 school years.

Various tested but the broad measures had effect sizes of .43 for SAT10, .45 for WRMT-Basic Skills Cluster, and .43 for WRMT-Total reading.
