Work ED
The mission of the Work ED program is to cultivate a robust cybersecurity talent pipeline, enhance educational ecosystems, and ensure measurable success with minimal burden on partners, thereby addressing the critical national shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals.
This is achieved by:
Providing comprehensive and agile cyber education: The program is designed for easy implementation in K-12 schools and to engage the broader community.
Leveraging Work-Based Learning (WBL) and a microlearning app: This approach makes the content adaptable and engaging for students.
Integrating three key components: Cyber Masterminds for students, Cyber Accelerator for educators, and Regional Competitions to foster collaboration and boost engagement.
Expanding beyond cybersecurity: The program also includes initiatives in AI education and career discovery.
The Work ED program is an adaptable cybersecurity education suite for K-12 schools and communities. It utilizes the Work ED App, a gamified microlearning platform, to deliver current courses on topics like injection attacks and cross-site scripting.
The program has three components:
Cyber Masterminds: Provides students with hands-on, scenario-based training that aligns with industry standards and offers microcredentials.
Cyber Accelerator: Offers low-burden professional development for educators, including labs and stipends, to help them integrate cybersecurity into their curriculum.
Regional Competitions: Events like the Mayor's Cup use "escape room" and "capture the flag" scenarios to boost student enrollment, promote digital equity, and foster collaboration between the community, industry, and education.
Work ED aims to build a robust cybersecurity talent pipeline by providing accessible, up-to-date education and career discovery initiatives with minimal burden on its partners.
