Empower CNY

High school tutors from across the Central New York area register through our website and are firstly interviewed. They are then paired with a student who is in need of tutoring. We hold tutoring sessions weekly on Saturday and Sunday at morning and evening times. Parents and tutors provide feedback through our optional session review forms.

TutorChat

Students in K-12 are paired with high school students who excel in math and English; they meet on a fixed weekly basis, with students meeting with the same tutor each time, ensuring that the student and tutor are able to build meaningful, high-impact relationships with one another.

Boosting student achievement with high-dosage tutoring: An interview with Carly Robinson and Matthew Kraft

A new policy brief examines the research evidence behind tutoring and what design principles for tutoring have shown to be important for boosting student achievement. The report is titled Accelerating Student Learning with High-Dosage Tutoring. It’s coauthored by Dr. Carly Robinson, Dr. Matthew Kraft and Dr. Susanna Loeb of the Annenberg Institute at Brown University, as well as Dr. Beth Schueler of the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia.

Tutor.com

For 25+ years and 28+ million tutoring sessions, Tutor.com has provided best-in-class tutoring. Our High-Dosage Tutoring, purpose-built by a team of educators in alignment with research best practices, is available in Math and English Language Arts for grades 3 through 8 plus Algebra I. What sets our High-Dosage Tutoring programs apart are design principles that drive student outcomes, including:

EdLight

EdLight is a platform to organize student work. Using EdLight's tutoring features, teachers can assign students to tutoring, specifying the standards / content for tutoring, and sharing any classwork / data that will allow the tutor to target their support. Tutors then share student work from each session back with teachers, allowing teachers to ensure that the tutoring is aligned to classwork and high quality. This intimate communication between teachers and tutors builds trust and allows teachers to confidently focus on grade level work during core instruction time.

Higher Achievement

Higher Achievement offers small-group academic mentoring in math and humanities/ELA for middle grade students. It has been the subject of two randomized controlled trial studies by MDRC, both of which demonstrated positive academic effects.

Heart Math Tutoring

Tutors work with elementary schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg and provide 30 minute 1:1 tutoring sessions twice per week during the school day. The program serves 50 students in grades 1-5 per school who are nominated by school staff based on their need for math support.
