Your Humanities Tutor

Mission:

While I work with all profiles of students, I specialize in helping STEM-minded students make sense of the humanities.

To do this, I use language and structure that is already familiar to STEM-minded students. I break esoteric humanities concepts down into structures and formulae that, when applied, produce positive results every time.

The toolkit I teach is flexible enough that each student’s own voice is front and center, while still reliably answering the question, “What does my teacher expect of me?”

Program Description:

I’m Kate, an educator with eleven years of experience in teaching K–12 & college humanities subjects. I hold an MA in Anthropology and have recently served as an administrator at a local college preparatory school, building bespoke plans for college-bound students. I’ve also tutored high-achieving students in person in the Greater Seattle area & Bay Area for five years.

My experience gives me a degree of familiarity with the expectations of today’s educational system; I have served for over a decade in education, I’ve instructed K–12 as well as college-level courses, and I’ve worked within both public and private systems across multiple states (including as an administrator).

I’ve also presented for a College Board panel discussion on college essay writing due to my success with students preparing to enter elite colleges and universities.
