Kara Hamilton

Kara Hamilton is the Director of Tutorial Programming for Guilford County Schools (GCS), one of the nation’s leading districts in creating and scaling a homegrown high dosage tutoring program. GCS has been recognized as a grantee of Accelerate’s Call to Effective Action Grant Program and received a million-dollar congressionally directed award in partnership with UNC Greensboro and North Carolina A&T State University. The district also partners in research efforts to strengthen evidence-based practices and improve student outcomes, including collaborations with the National Student Support Accelerator, the Personalized Learning Initiative, and the Road to COVID Recovery project led by CALDER at the American Institutes for Research (AIR), the Center for Education Policy Research (CEPR) at Harvard University, and NWEA. Before joining GCS, Kara served with the North Carolina Association of School Administrators, where she supported advocacy, communication, and professional development for the state’s educational leaders.
