Read Alliance helps to shrink the achievement gap by pairing early elementary children with high school students trained and paid to provide one-to-one tutoring in foundational reading skills.

A collaboration between the Annenberg Institute and the Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown University, BTC is grounded in a research-backed, high-impact tutoring model. We partner with educational leaders to design programming responsive to schools' priorities and students' needs, driving measurable impact through data-driven, targeted learning support, with strong relationships and mentoring playing significant roles in student experience.
Tutor Corps
Tutors work one-on-one with students in all grade levels to help them achieve their educational goals. We provide both remedial support for struggling students and enrichment for those who want to hone their skills.
Tennessee Tutoring Corps
7-8 week program using trained college students to tutor students in 1st-4th grade through pre-existing community-based summer programs.
Targeted Reading Instruction
Targeted Reading Instruction (TRI; formerly called Targeted Reading Intervention) is a professional development program for K-2 teachers with an embedded reading intervention. Teachers work one-on-one with a beginning reader for 15 minutes a day for a period of eight to ten weeks. TRI literacy coaches support teachers with an initial training institute followed by weekly web-based coaching while a teacher works with a student.
