Our ESC is one of the larger ones in the state serving 15 school districts in Lorain County which is approximately 45 minutes west of Cleveland. Intervening and enriching student learning are both a passion of mine and one of the most successful ways to do that is through tutoring.

Koedinger directs LearnLab (http://learnlab.org) and was a co-founder of Carnegie Learning, Inc., which was the first AI in Education company to bring intelligent tutoring technology to K12 students. My research focuses on beginning teacher support, particularly from three separate angels. I examine teacher preparation policy through issues related to diversifying the teacher pipeline and excavating teacher beliefs in relationship to instructional quality, entry, and attrition. I also study the preparation, training, and implementation of classroom management, a key pedagogical skill that beleaguers many novice teachers. Lastly, I investigate teacher induction and new educator supports, generally around coaching and support.
